Immerse yourself in the world of Ashtanga Yoga

Just as Ashtanga Yoga is not just a dynamic sequence of powerful asanas, it is also not a prescribed doctrine. At its core, yoga is about the journey of the self, through the self, to the self. We believe that through physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama) and mindfulness, yoga opens the heart and helps to connect with oneself.

Step 1 - Ujjayi breathing

Each class begins with Ujjayi breathing, which helps clear the mind of distractions. Breathing is not only an important part of yoga is, but the essence of life itself, connecting us to the world around us. Focusing on the breath promotes awareness and presence.

Step 2 - Warming up

Warming up prepares the body, just like any other physical activity. In yoga, the emphasis is on mindful and conscious movement. In traditional Ashtanga, the sequence of asanas and their number remain the same, However, our classes bring variety to this discipline.

Step 3 - Main sequence

While a full Ashtanga class lasts 2 to 2.5 hours, we adapt our classes to accommodate different varying schedules and levels, changing our main sequence weekly. This approach keeps the practice fresh and challenging by allowing us to work different muscle groups and aspects of physical and mental endurance. One week the focus may be on backbends, another on balance postures or twists to ensure holistic development. The Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) is an indispensable part of our routine. This series of asanas energizes and harmonizes the body, giving it a sense of vitality and strength. Although Ashtanga is known for its strength and dynamic flow, we offer classes for all levels of experience. Our classes go from simple to more challenging postures, so that everyone, whether beginner or advanced, will find joy and growth in the practice.

Step 4 - Pranayama

Pranayama is the art of breath control in yoga, bringing together "prana" (life force) and "ayama" (control) to invigorate the body and calm the mind. This practice involves specific breathing techniques that enhance energy and promote relaxation, serving as a vital element in achieving harmony between body and mind. In Ashtanga Yoga, pranayama is seamlessly integrated with physical postures to purify the body and enhance mindfulness.

Step 5 - Shavasana (relaxation)

Shavasana, also known as the corpse pose, is a restorative relaxation practice in yoga. It provides a moment of calm, allowing the body and mind to fully absorb the benefits of the yoga session. During Shavasana, practitioners lie flat on their back with arms and legs comfortably spread, focusing on deep, rhythmic breathing. This practice helps to release tension, reduce stress, and promote a state of peacefulness and balance, leaving you rejuvenated and centered.
